본 연구는 산욕기 7일내에 정상분만한 산모의 관심사를 측정하고자 실시하였다. 산모의 교육수준, 기대역할 변화 및 사회변화에 따른 적응 등으로 현대의 산모는 과거의 산모와는 다른 관심사를 가지고 있을 것이다. 실제로 산모를 위한 교육 프로그램의 내용은 이들 산모의 관심사를 충족시켜야 하는데 우리나라에서는 산모의 관심사에 대한 보고가 빈약한 실정이다. 연구도구는 Bull에 의해 개발된 43문항의 설문지를 번안하여 측정하였으며, 1987년부터 1989년까지 서울 시내 일개 종합대학병원에서 정상분만한 산모 221명을 대상으로 가정방문하여 자료를 수집하였다. 관심사는 산모자신, 신생아, 남편, 가족 및 가사문제 등으로 분류되며, 관심의 정도는 0점에서 4점까지의 Likert척도로 표시하였다. 연구결과로 가장 높은 관심사는 ´아기가 정상으로 성장할 것인지(3.56)´였으며, 그 다음으로 좋은 엄마(3.40)가 될 수 있는지 ´남편이 좋은 아빠가 될 수 있는지´에 관한 것이다. 따라서 산모를 위한 간호로서 교육프로그램의 내용을 개편할 필요가 있다. 기존의 신생아에 관한 생리적 변화 및 신체적 간호도 중요하지만 영아의 정상적인 발달단계와 부모로서 바람직한 역할 실천에 관한 지식을 강화하는 것이 산모의 관심사에 대응하는 길이다.

221 mothers were interviewed at their home with basis of a questionnaire, which was composed of items measuring intensity of concerns about mother-self, baby, husband and family matters.
Results of the study showed that priority concerns of modern mothers in Korea were on "normal growth of the new-born baby" and emotional adjustment for coping with changes in parenting roles after delivery: if could provide adequate parenting as a good mother and a father, which should be different from the traditional role of the grand-parent´s. The intensity of concerns were in order of baby, husband, and then herself.
It was recommended that education programs for parenting should be developed to provide necessary information and basic knowledge for mothers, especially for the primi-para, to cope well with appropriate role behavior as good parents of todays and changes in familial relationship after the delivery. The program contents should imply concerns of mothers rather than providing health professional´s opinion only.
